About Heart in Mind Psychotherapy
Licensed Therapists in Melville on Long Island, NY
Therapy for deep transformation, rooted in insight, guided by compassion
Something feels off. Maybe it’s a constant sense of anxiety, a relationship that leaves you feeling misunderstood, or a lingering exhaustion you can’t quite explain. Perhaps you're stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, but don’t know how to break free. Whether you're an adult navigating inner conflict, a teen overwhelmed by emotions, or a couple struggling to reconnect, therapy offers a space to feel heard, supported, and gently guided toward healing.
Our approach to therapy
No two people are the same, and neither is the way our therapists work with their clients. At Heart in Mind, we take an integrative approach that draws from a variety of therapeutic models, tailored to your specific needs and goals. Depending on what brings you in, we may work with Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore your inner world, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to shift unhelpful thought patterns, or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to build emotional regulation skills. Our therapists are trained to incorporate psychodynamic and mindfulness-based techniques, somatic awareness, and attachment theory to support deeper, lasting change.
In your sessions, you can expect a steady mix of reflection, insight, and gentle challenge. At Heart in Mind, we believe in creating a space where you feel not only safe but truly known. Whether we’re processing trauma, examining the roots of anxiety, or working to unlearn perfectionism or people-pleasing tendencies, the focus remains on building a stronger relationship with yourself.
For couples, our therapists are trained in both the Gottman Method and Relational Life Therapy, two of the most effective and gold-standard modalities for couples work. This allows us to offer a deeper, more structured, and results-driven therapy process that stands apart from conventional couples counseling, giving you the best chance at lasting meaningful change. These approaches help strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and reestablish emotional and physical intimacy. At Heart in Mind, our approach invites both partners to take ownership of their patterns while staying grounded in mutual respect and connection.
